Common Cold

by Tom Parker
Well I tried that echinacea
A copper bracelet too
I took a bunch of St. John's Wort
But not a thing did they do
I got a cold now, I'm feeling down
I must have caught somethin' goin' 'round

I got the sniffles, my eyes are red
I'm drinkin' fluids and stayin' in bed

I saw my doctor, do what I'm told
Can't find a cure for the common cold

This kind of thing I, I don't deserve
That rhinovirus has got its nerve

My head is pounding, my brain is fried
I'm feelin' like I up and died

Hope it ain't the flu or worse the croup
Another bowl of chicken noodle soup
Well I tried that echinacea
A copper bracelet too
I took a bunch of St. John's Wort
But not a thing did they do, oh oh
It's like they told me, when I was young
Put that thermometer under your tongue

I got the shivers and lots of aches
How long will this last for heaven's sakes

This kind of hell I, I don't deserve
Old rhinovirus sure got his nerve

But I'm watching TV, I'm losing weight
Stayin' home from work now, hey, this is great!
Oh, well I tried that echinacea
A copper bracelet too
I took a bunch of St. John's Wort
But not a thing did they do, oh oh
I got a cold now, I'm feeling down
I must have caught somethin' goin' 'round

Just tough it out now, that's what I'm told
There ain't no cure for the common cold

Ain't got no cure for the common cold
