Rag People

by Tom Parker
Just a boy and his dog with the rain fallin' down,
And they said: "Man oh man, boy you're dreamin',
'Cause there's work to be done while we still have some sun,
But tell us man, where oh where, have you been?"

"Well, I've been to the place where the Rag People go,
On a road, by a lake, far away,
And I knocked on the door of their house by the shore,
And they said: 'Come right in, won't you stay?'
"Now, Rag People have a simple philosophy,
Just ask, 'cause they'll tell anyone:
'Work hard, share your love, exercise, and be free,
Help others, and have lots of fun.'
"And so I thought of their plan and about who I am,
And it seemed to make some sense to me,
Then I thanked them and said 'There's so much in my head,
I must sort it all out -- then I'll see.'

"Now, Rag People have a simple philosophy,
Just ask, 'cause they'll tell anyone:
'Work hard, share your love, exercise, and be free,
Help others, and have lots of fun.'"
Just like that boy and his dog (who was called Socrates),
"The unexamined life's just not worth living",
So give some thought as you grow, to what Rag People know:
To take a look at your life, so you'll see.
Yeah, check out what you want your life to be.
