The Trail of Broken Hearts

by Tom Parker
As we go about this thing we call existence,
Dodging slings and arrows and Love's nasty darts,
We can work and eke out a meager subsistence,
While we try to miss The Trail of Broken Hearts.

Well they say that all it takes is some persistence,
Yet we find that still our songs don't make the charts,
So we look around and hope for some assistance,
And we find we're on The Trail of Broken Hearts.
Once the dreams we had showed the way,
And once our spirits soared,
Now it seems that we've lost our day,
And love's more than we can ever afford.
When it seems that love's ahead up in the distance,
We arrive but find that soon all hope departs,
And so now we take the path of least resistance,
And continue on The Trail of Broken Hearts.

Broken hearts ...
Once the dreams we had showed the way,
And once our spirits soared.
Now it seems that we've lost our day,
And love's more than we can ever afford.
As we wander life alone, now what's the difference?
If there's wisdom of the soul that love imparts.
Either way we'll hear the deafening sound of silence,
As we walk along The Trail of Broken Hearts.

As we walk along The Trail of Broken Hearts.
As we walk along The Trail of Broken Hearts.
